Tallgrass Creek Retirement Unveils Largest Apartment Home Unit in Kansas Region
OVERLAND PARK, KS (February 6, 2012) – The Wheaton, a 2,100 square-foot apartment home said to be the largest of its kind in the Kansas senior housing market, will be unveiled on Wednesday, February 8, at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park. It will be the prototype for other units of its size when Tallgrass Creek expands with a new residential building, based on market demand, in the future.
This one-time, single-combination unit blended together two similar floor plans next to each other and created a very open, large apartment home. The Wheaton’s entrance deposit price is $425,000 with a monthly fee of $2267 for first person ($659 for second person).
The Wheaton’s upgrades include granite tabletop, countertops, a breakfast bar; stainless steel appliances, and abundant kitchen storage in the custom maple spice cabinetry;
Heritage Hickory flooring by Prego is throughout Living/Dining room and kitchen. Frieze carpet is in bedrooms and den and ceramic tile is in bathrooms and laundry room.
The Living/Dining room includes tray ceiling and crown molding and abundant natural and recessed lighting. A spacious laundry room includes front load washer and dryer. Custom window treatments (luminette’s and wood blinds throughout) are found in the spacious master suite includes sitting room, along with a California closet, double sink master bath vanity and tray ceiling;
Tallgrass Creek marked a 20 percent increase in settlements of apartment homes for yearend 2011.A total of 37 apartment homes were settled in 2011, compared to 29 the prior year. In addition, a total of 50 people made Tallgrass Creek their home. Reservations for apartment homes remained consistent, as did priority list deposits.
People moved to Tallgrass Creek from nearly all geographic areas of Johnson County, with some moving from as far away as Arizona, California and Florida.
Tallgrass Creek officials attribute the sales increase, in part, to the introduction of a Lower Entrance Deposit option, which enabled people to move in for only 50 percent of the original Entrance Deposit price if they pay a higher monthly fee. “Our affordability message resonated with our greater community,” said Jean Dennis, the Director of Sales for Tallgrass Creek.
Another factor in helping people move to Tallgrass Creek was the in-house realty services program that connected prospective residents with movers, real estate agents and move-in officials to make the selling of a home, and the logistics management that go along with it, as easy as possible.
Tallgrass Creek, which has nearly 300 residents, sits on 65 acres that stretch across Overland Park’s premier address of 138th and Metcalfe Avenue. Tallgrass Creek offers extensive wellness and prevention programs, balance assessment and fall prevention programs, and Fitness and Aquatics Centers.
Also, there are more than 60 resident-inspired and resident-led clubs, committees and interest groups in these categories: art; cards; computers and technology; dance; faith-based and interfaith; fitness and sports; games; gardening; lifelong learning; music; literature, philanthropy.
